The Basics of Buying a Telescope

There is a point in the lives of any astronomer to buy their first telescope. Astronomy is about exploring the wonderful world of outer space and discovering new things rather than as a hobby. If you plan to shop for a telescope, you must think like an astronomer.

If you know an expert in telescope, you should seek their advice. You can tell them your requirements and they will be able to describe the types of telescope that are suitable for you. They are more reliable than a salesman who is attempting to make a sales pitch.

The magnification of the telescope should be usable. A telescope with a 32x power will allow you to see all the planets including Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune with their planetary rings. Although they will appear small, the image should be bright and clear. If the magnification is increased, the image will appear in a larger size but blurred. The telescope lens will produce the best result if more lights are allowed to enter through the telescope. A telescope with a wide diameter will provide a better view. The amplication of the telescope is not as important as the lens size. When shopping for telescope, you should make sure that the lenses are in the right size.

The telescope’s stand must be strong and flexible so that it can be setup on uneven ground surfaces. The telescope stands must be able to support the telescope properly so that it will not drop while you are observing the sky.
